Cape100 Founding Members

The inaugural Cape100 will only happen once.

Every athlete who starts the inaugural Cape100 on 5 September 2027 will become a Cape100 Founding Member — a permanent distinction recognising the athletes who were there from the beginning.

Founding Member status remains with an athlete for life.

The black race number

Every Cape100 Founding Member will receive a black race number carrying their permanent Cape100 number.

The black race number is the permanent race-day distinction of a Cape100 Founding Member.

Each time a Founding Member returns to Cape100 in future years, they will receive a new black race number displaying the same permanent number originally allocated to them.

For example, an athlete allocated permanent number 2001 in the inaugural Cape100 will race with black number 2001 in 2027. If they return in any future year, they will again race with black number 2001.

The number remains theirs. The black race number identifies them as a Founding Member.

Founding Member recognition

Cape100 Founding Members will receive:

• Founding Member status for life

• Their permanent Cape100 race number

• A black race number every time they return to Cape100

• Priority access to future Cape100 entries

• Permanent recognition as part of the inaugural Cape100 field

• Access to future Founding Member benefits and special recognition as Cape100 grows

The ways in which Cape100 recognises its Founding Members may continue to evolve as the event grows.

Founding List vs Founding Member

The Cape100 Founding List and Cape100 Founding Member status are not the same.

The Founding List provides athletes with priority access to entries for the inaugural Cape100. Joining the Founding List does not guarantee an entry and does not make an athlete a Founding Member.

Every athlete who starts the inaugural Cape100 on 5 September 2027 will become a Cape100 Founding Member, regardless of whether they secured their entry during the Priority Entry Period or Public Entry Period.

From Year Two onwards

Every athlete who joins Cape100 for the first time in future editions will also receive their own permanent Cape100 race number.

That number will remain theirs whenever they return to Cape100.

Athletes who were not part of the inaugural Cape100 will race with the standard Cape100 race number, carrying their permanent number.

Cape100 Founding Members will continue to race with black race numbers, carrying the permanent numbers allocated to them in the inaugural event.

So whether an athlete first joins Cape100 in 2027, 2028, 2030 or 2040, their Cape100 number becomes theirs.

Only the inaugural field carries the black race number.
